Kayakers in difficulty results in Fishguard RNLI call-out

TWO kayakers struggling against an offshore wind whilst positioned half a mile west of Dinas Head and being pushed further out to sea resulted in Fishguard RNLI’s inshore lifeboat launching at midday on Sunday 15 May.

In the interim a local fishing boat was covering the two kayakers until the lifeboat, with three volunteer crew, arrived on scene.

The two kayakers were transferred to the lifeboat and taken to Pwllgwaelod Beach, as were their kayaks, towed by the helping assistance of the fishing boat. HM Coastguard were on scene upon their arrival.
Later that afternoon Fishguard RNLI were again tasked as a result of a pleasure boat drifting close to rocks near Goodwick.

The inshore lifeboat again launched but was immediately ‘stood down’ after the pleasure boat was assisted away from trouble by another boat in the area.
