A TEIFI VALLEY man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison after attacking another man with a hammer and a knife.
Bruce McLaren, 52, from Cardigan, had pleaded guilty to a charge of wounding with intent to cause GBH at Swansea Crown Court in July and was sentenced on Thursday.
The attack on Anthony Horscroft took place at a property in Castle Street on January 9, and left Mr Horscroft with what police at the time described as “serious and multiple injuries.”
Mr Horscroft was hospitalised following the attack.
McLaren also faced a second charge of attempted murder, to which he had pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution offered no evidence in relation to the attempted murder charge and the charge was dropped.
At a previous hearing Judge Keith Thomas had told McLaren to expect a jail term after the “vicious attack.”
