Narberth (176-9) beat St Ishmaels (170-7) by 1 wkt
A SIX from Brynley Toms saw Narberth beat St Ishmaels by one wicket on Saturday in what was a close game. Last man Toms came in with his side only needing one run but his six made sure of the win. Peter Bradshaw started well for St Ishmaels scoring seven fours and two sixes in his knock of 66. He and Cockburn put on 81 for the third wicket to put their side in a strong position. Cockburn went on to finish not out on 46, hitting three fours and two sixes in his innings. However, after interruptions for rain, partners continued to desert him as three batsmen all succumbed to a run out as Narberth’s fielders piled the pressure on their opponents. Matthew Johns was the best bowler for his side as he finished with figures of two for seventeen from his twelve overs. After Richard Adams fell for five, Marc Hughes and Kyle Quartermaine put on 60 for the second wicket. Quartermaine top scored for his side with 52, hitting five fours and four sixes in the process. He was caught by Jon Pawlett off the bowling of Robbie Thomas and Marc Hughes followed him back to the pavilion soon after. Mike Scale hit 23, Aron Keane hit 19 as they kept the scoreboard ticking over. The game looked to be heading to St Ishmaels but Toms had other ideas, keeping his cool to hit a six with not long to spare.
