Nine fire appliances called to Bynea recycling centre fire

NINE fire appliances from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service are currently at a large recycling centre fire at Bynea in Carmarthenshire.

The fire broke out around 10.35am on Friday morning (Oct 14) at the Browns recycling centre in the village close to Llanelli.

Local residents were asked to keep windows and doors closed. A statement by the fire service said the situation was under control by the afternoon, while NRW officers are on site to support Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service and offer advice and guidance on how to reduce the risk to the environment.

The fire was in a warehouse the Browns recycling centre in Bynea.

A spokesperson for the fire service said the fire is “under control” as of 3.10pm, with contractors working to remove and douse piles of waste so that they can reach the middle of the fire.

Police and ambulance services have not been required to attend.

No injuries have been reported
