P.O. closure fury

closure furyTHE CLOSURE of the only Post Office in Cardigan just before Christmas has caused a furious reaction in the Ceredigion town.

AM’s and community leaders have called upon the Post Office to resolve the matter, saying that requiring people to make long round trip jouneys by public transport to alternative services is not viable.

Citing “unforeseen circumstances”, the Post Office closed its doors to business on December 20, 2013, leaving pensioners and those dependent on social security benefits unable to draw out their cash without a lengthy return bus journey to the next nearest facility in St Dogmaels. Local Ceredigion councillor Catrin Miles has called on the Post Office to set up a mobile unit in the short term. The Post Office has been unable to say when service would be resumed.

Richards Bros is putting on a special bus service for Cardigan residents to access funds at St Dogmaels Post Office and also for people living north of the town to outlets in the Aberporth area.
