A PEMBROKE man, currently living in London, has been charged with murder after a body was discovered in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

John Keenan was discovered with a serious head injury in Sidney Street, east London, just minutes into the New Year.

The 43-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem found Mr Keenan died from a brain injury following an assault.

A Met spokeswoman said: “At this early stage it is understood that an altercation has taken place during a private party at the address, and that the victim and those arrested are known to each other.”

Former Pembroke School pupil, Terry Hamer, 34, whose most recent address was given as Newbold Cottages, Sidney Street, Whitechapel, has been charged with murder and appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court to confirm his name and address on Saturday (Jan 3). He was remanded in custody.

A 25-year-old woman who was also arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed to return to an east London police station on a date in early February pending further inquiries.
