End of the road for mobile libraries

libraries shelvedPEMBROKESHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL’S ‘aging’ fleet of three mobile libraries now are likely to be the latest victim of the ongoing cuts. Councillors will now start a consultation process to axe a service which they say is only used by 1% of the population.

The service has been in operation from the mid 1950’s, but cutting the service will save £100,000 a year. Cllr. Elwyn Morse, cabinet member for culture sport and leisure, said “We will now look at the availability and accessibility of alternative services including digital.”
