THE FUTURE development of the Council’s key Cross Hands West development remains shrouded in uncertainty Speaking on BBC Cymru Wales this morning County Councillor Terry Davies said “Councillors are in the dark about what is being planned. What we have at the moment is a vast empty car park. “We were kept on a string by Sainsbury ‘ s for a long time.

Suddenly they made the disclosure that they sold it to some company. We have been told they sold it to Conygar. We will have to wait to see if they put planning in and what they put in for. All the services are in there. We are still hopeful that we will get a surgery there. “It is a black hole and a huge site. It is the first time I have been able to see right across to Cefneithin.” Councillor Davies told The Herald: “People are disappointed that Sainsbury ‘ s didn’t come because it would have brought people in.

“There are new homes being built in Crosshands and we would be able to accommodate more. The site behind the Gwernllwyn is fully occupied. This site is an ex brown field site. When I was in school that area was all shunting yards. Whatever happens it is a great improvement. “The only problem I had was the road from the Workingman’s Club to the roundabout. If Sainsbury ‘ s had come it would have been chaos there. We are just waiting now to see what happens, so effectively we are in the dark.”

The Conygar Investment Company told the BBC that it hoped to put in a planning application for the site in February. Conygar is an AIM quoted property investment and development group dealing primarily in UK property. Hywel Dda UHB told the BBC that it was still committed to building a new health centre on the land, but there were no timescales or budget. Carmarthenshire County Council refused to comment to the BBC .
