Sam Rowlands MS is calling on producers in his region to enter a nationally acclaimed food and drink competition

SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales is urging local producers to take part in the Great Taste Awards 2025.

Entries for the annual contest will open to non-members of the Guild of Fine Food on January 6 and close on January 21, or earlier if the entry cap is reached.

Mr Rowlands, a keen supporter of buying local produce said: “We all know that food and drink from North Wales is held in the highest regard all over the world for its great quality and excellent taste.

“Our food and drink businesses make a vital contribution to the Welsh economy and I would encourage local producers to enter this prestigious competition.”

Great Taste stars are highly respected seals of approval and many businesses from North Wales continue to be awarded these accolades with Anglesey Fine Foods Ltd being awarded three stars in 2024 for its Shoulder of Anglesey Fat-Tail Lamb.

Also securing awards from North Wales were Dolwen Welsh Lamb and Beef from Llanarmon DC near Llangollen, for its Welsh beef brisket and Ma Baker from Overton, Wrexham for their Buckwheat Crackers and Seeded Rye Sourdough.

Nearly 3,500 companies from 115 countries around the world entered Great Taste this year, between them offering 13,672 products for review. The UK entered 8,008 products from 2,528 companies.

Great Taste is the largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme and supports and promotes producers, large and small. It gives buyers and food lovers in the UK and overseas reliable recommendations for great tasting food.

It is recognised as a reliable stamp of excellence among consumers, retailers and major food buyers alike and attracts entries from all over the world.
