BUSINESS owners, residents and town centre stakeholders are being asked for feedback as part of a strategy to improve Anglesey’s town centres.
A consultation began on Wednesday (October 30th) to gather crucial feedback for Holyhead, Llangefni, Amlwch, Menai Bridge and Beaumaris. It forms part of the Anglesey Town Centres Improvement Strategy, which aims to support town centres to be attractive and successful places.
Responses received during the three-week consultation period will help prepare Town Centre Baselines and future Placemaking Plans for individual towns. They will also help to identify the priorities for public investment in town centres and high streets through available external funding schemes.
The consultation forms part of the ‘Lle Da’ Anglesey Placemaking Programme which is funded from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF), and also forms part of delivering the Welsh Government’s Transforming Towns Programme on the Island.
Council Leader and Economic Development portfolio holder, Councillor Gary Pritchard, explained: “Our Regeneration team is looking to create a baseline for each town centre. This will provide the foundation needed to create individual Place Making plans in due course.
“Feedback from our consultations will provide important information and allow us to understand what the various groups value about their town, what their concerns are and how we can bring about positive changes.”
He added: “Promoting opportunities to develop the Island’s economy is one of our key objectives as a Council. Given time, we hope to see the Placemaking approach make a significant contribution to the vitality and attractiveness of our town centres.”
A survey of town centre businesses and residents shouldn’t take more than five minutes to complete. There will be a separate survey for town centre stakeholders. The surveys are open from October 30th until November 21st.
The consultation survey(s) can be found on the Isle of Anglesey County Council website.
