People will face bans from begging at railway stations in North Wales if they are deemed “persistent offenders.”
Transport for Wales has implemented this initiative at Holyhead, Bangor, Colwyn Bay, and Prestatyn stations.
The British Transport Police will issue notices to individuals engaging in “anti-social behaviour,” effectively prohibiting them from lingering around the station.
Those who violate this notice will be subject to arrest.
This new program was initiated at the start of September and will remain in effect indefinitely.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police emphasised the importance of providing passengers, customers, and employees with a safe and welcoming station environment. They stated, “We know that anti-social behaviour can be intimidating and scary. The introduction of this scheme is another way in which we can tackle this important issue.”
