Cheese factory to create 100 new jobs on Anglesey

A £20m investment in a cheese factory on Anglesey will allow it to produce 7000 tons of Welsh and continental cheeses a year and will create 100 new jobs.

The Mona Island Dairy Factory, a 25,000 sq ft plant in Holyhead, will also use the new investment to make it one of the most sustainable dairy factories in Europe by only using energy from renewable sources, say it’s owners.

The Welsh Government’s Business Innovation and Tourism Escalator Scheme will give a grant of about £3m towards the cost of upgrading the plant.

Work on the factory is scheduled to be finished by September 2021.
