CONWY County Borough Council is urging older residents across the county to register a claim for Pension Credit from the government – worth up to £3,900 a year.
Pension Credit gives people extra money to help with their living costs if they are over State Pension age and on a low income, and can also provide access to a range of other benefits.
Monday 2 September to Friday 6 September is Pension Credit Week of Action, and Conwy County Borough Council is reminding residents aged 66+ that they should check their eligibility and apply for Pension Credit, because they could qualify for Winter Fuel Payment and other support like help with housing costs, help with Council Tax, and a free TV licence for those aged 75 and over.
Councillor Nigel Smith, Cabinet Member with responsibility for revenues and benefits, said: “We want to raise awareness about Pension Credit so people don’t miss out. This money is there to help those who need it most. I would urge everyone over pension age to apply for the support.
“I also want to ask that friends and family encourage their loved ones to apply.”
