Grass fire breaks out in Llandudno, people advised to stay away

FIREFIGHTERS are currently tackling a grass fire that has broken out on the Great Orme, a prominent landmark in Llandudno, North Wales. Emergency services are urging the public to stay away from the area while efforts to contain the fire are underway.

The fire, which started on Thursday morning, sent thick plumes of smoke billowing from the popular beauty spot, prompting concern among locals and visitors alike. The summit car park at the Great Orme has been closed as a precaution, according to Conwy Council.

Dan Jones, the Great Orme Shepherd who resides near the affected area, told reporters that while the situation appears to be under control, the cause of the fire remains unconfirmed. “It may have been caused by a downed cable, but we don’t know for sure yet. There’s been no electricity for a while,” he said.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service released a statement urging the public to steer clear of the area. “We’re currently in attendance at a grass/gorse fire in the Great Orme area of Llandudno. Please keep away from the area while we tackle the fire,” the statement read.

Emergency crews continue to work at the scene, with no reports of injuries or further damage at this time. Authorities are expected to provide further updates as the situation develops.
