A GLAMPING site could offer ‘high-end’ camping facilities if a Denbighshire planning application gets the go-ahead.
Mr. E. Jones has submitted a planning application to Denbighshire County Council, seeking permission to change the use of agricultural land at Pentre Potes Farm, Cyffylliog.
Mr. Jones wants to erect two ‘shepherd huts’ as well as high-quality bell tents, together with landscaping improvements and WC facilities.
The current farm is situated on the edge of the semi-rural village of Cyffylliog and consists of a detached farmhouse, storage outbuildings, and grazing land.
But Mr. Jones wants to convert some of the agricultural land to diversify the use of the farm.
In the application, Mr. Jones said the development would help boost the local economy.
The planning statement included in the application explained: “The proposal as a whole would create a small high-quality eco-tourism accommodation site that would be focused on providing high-quality accommodation in a rural setting.
“The siting of the huts and bell tents has been carefully chosen, firstly to ensure they have minimal impact upon the quality and character of the landscape and secondly so that occupants have an aspect befitting a high-end product.
“The huts will be relatively modest features due to their small scale and form and the materials will utilise ‘natural’ finishes and muted colours.
“This will ensure that they form unobtrusive features in their setting. This is especially the case in contrast to more traditional accommodation types such as touring or static caravans, which typically utilise bright white cladding and therefore have a higher visual impact.”
The statement read, “The existing parking and turning area within the farm complex will be used, together with a proposed new access road leading into the site which will provide further parking spaces.”
The application will now likely be debated at a future Denbighshire planning committee meeting.
