MS welcomes Ysgol Glan Clwyd pupils to the Senedd

A MEMBER of the Senedd has welcomed a group of Denbighshire school pupils to the Senedd.

Llŷr Gruffydd, who represents North Wales in the Welsh Parliament, gave pupils from Ysgol Glan Clwyd in St Asaph a guided tour.

The young people had the opportunity to quiz the MS as they learned about Welsh democracy.

Mr Gruffydd, of Plaid Cymru, who is his party’s Shadow Minister for Rural Affairs talked to the children about his work standing up for constituents as a Member of the Senedd.

Llŷr Gruffydd MS said: “It was an absolute pleasure to be able to welcome pupils from Ysgol Glan Clwyd to the Senedd.

“It’s vital that we get young people engaged in the democratic process in Wales because at the end of the day they are the future of our country.

“That’s why it was so pleasing to see the enthusiasm on display from these pupils for learning how democracy works in Wales and how they can help shape it so it benefits our communities.

“They showed a real appetite for learning how they could get the issues that affect them and their communities higher up the political agenda.

“They asked thoughtful and incisive questions which would not have been out of place in the Senedd chamber. Some of them could well be the politicians of the future!

“The visit of these young people to the Senedd gives me confidence that the future of our democracy here in Wales is in safe hands.”
