Planning application submitted for former Rhyl clothes shop to be come a takeaway

A FORMER men’s clothes store in Rhyl could become a takeaway.

The former Vain Menswear shop at 20 Wellington Road would be known as ‘Ronnie’s Takeaway’ if plans get the go-ahead.

Mr A. Phillips, of Gors Road, Towyn, has submitted a planning application to Denbighshire County Council’s planning department, seeking permission for a change of use from shop to hot food restaurant/takeaway.

The plans include the installation of an extractor flue and associated works.

If it gets the go-ahead, the takeaway will be on the ground floor only. The upper floors are flats but are currently used for storage and an admin area.

According to the plans, the takeaway would feature a raised ‘point of sale’ counter at the front of the shop, including a hatch for staff.

The kitchen space would be hidden from public view by a partition wall and include a hot plate, hob, and grill area with a central island for serving.

The back of the kitchen would be built with two sinks and an adjacent stockroom and staff toilet.

Access would be provided via an alley at the back of the building beyond a roller shutter door.

The new takeaway would employ one full-time and two part-time staff if permission is granted. The application will be debated at a future planning committee meeting.
