Public meeting will be held on 13 homes plan in Graigfechan

Mr I. Roberts of Roberts Homes Ltd has applied to Denbighshire County Council’s planning department, seeking permission for 13 residential homes at agricultural land adjacent to Paradwys, Graigfechan.

RESIDENTS living in a Denbighshire village will attend a public meeting next week to discuss 13 new homes.

Roberts Homes Ltd has applied to Denbighshire County Council’s planning department, seeking permission for 13 residential homes at agricultural land adjacent to Paradwys, Graigfechan.

But several residents have written to the council objecting to the proposals.

Resident Gwyneth Edwards lives in the village and says she will be attending the meeting next week to make her feelings known.

“We are totally opposed to it,” she said.

“Graigfechan is not on the main road. It is a single track. It has no public bus service, no school, no shops, or recreational space for residents, and it has no gas mains,” she said.

“This is a farming community. There is heavy traffic on this road. There is congestion. Also there is wildlife in the streams. There are otters, and we have proof of it.”

She added: “There will be quite a few residents at the meeting. Most people are against it. Most people don’t want it. It is ridiculous. It is a farming community for goodness sake.”

If granted planning permission, the Ruthin-based developer wants to include a road and parking at the 0.71 hectares of land.

The homes would feature UPVC windows, white walls, and tiled roofs.

The plans will likely be debated at a future Denbighshire planning committee meeting at the council’s Ruthin County Hall HQ.

The meeting is set to take place at 7pm on Monday 13 May at Llysfasi Agricultural College near Ruthin.

Roberts Homes Ltd was contacted for a comment.
