SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is calling on his constituents to take the opportunity to meet to with real life book authors at their local libraries.
From Monday November 18, Denbighshire Libraries will be hosting a series of author events across the county and Mr Rowlands, a keen supporter of literary events said: “I welcome these sort of events as it is a wonderful opportunity for local people to actually have the chance to meet popular authors and discuss their books.
“It will be fascinating to hear all about how these writers actually come up with ideas for their novels and how they carry out their research.
“There will be something for everyone’s reading tastes with different authors taking part and sharing their plots on romance, historical fiction or crime.
“It certainly is worth having a look at what is on offer and putting a date in your dairy.”
The event kicks off with Welsh Language author, Manon Steffan Ros who will be visiting Denbigh Library on Monday November 18 at 2pm. Manon has written over 23 books for adults and children in the Welsh language and has won the Wales Book of the Year for her adult fiction
Prestatyn Library will welcome Kate Ellis on Wednesday November 20 at 2pm. Kate has written 28 novels which follow DI Wesley Peterson, and five crime novels with a supernatural twist which feature another DI, Joe Plantagenet. Her latest Wesley Peterson novel, Coffin Island, was published in August 2024.
Rhyl Library will host a double bill, with romantic novelist Trisha Ashley visiting with Juliet Greenwood on Thursday November 28, at 2pm. Trisha has written over 27 novels, many of them Sunday Times bestsellers, and has also published short stories and poetry. Juliet Greenwood is the author of eight historical novels, published by Honno, the Welsh Women’s Press, Orion and Storm Publishing.
Million selling author Simon McCleave will be at St Asaph Library on Friday November 22 at, 2pm. His series of books featuring DI Ruth Hunter started with the ‘Snowdonia Killings’, and other titles include the ‘Denbigh Asylum Killings’ and the ‘Llangollen Killings’.
In Ruthin, writer and broadcaster Myfanwy Alexander will stop by the library, on Thursday November, 21 at 2pm to talk about her series of crime novels featuring Detective Inspector Daf Dafis, who is passionate about keeping the peace in his square mile but his life is always complicated.
Wrexham based author David Ebsworth will be at Llangollen Library on Tuesday December, 3 at 2pm, to talk about his Wrexham & Chester Victorian Mysteries
Deborah Owen, Principal Librarian said: “We hope there’s something for everyone with these author visits. Whether you prefer crime, romance or historical fiction, I’d like to invite everyone to come and join us.
