SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is encouraging constituents to take the plunge for a worthy cause this weekend.
Mr Rowlands, a keen supporter of hospices is backing The Big Dip 2025 fund raising event for St Kentigern’s Hospice in St Asaph at Prestatyn Central Beach on Sunday February 23.
He said: “I am always happy to support any events which help raise money for hospices in North Wales because as we all know they rely heavily on donations.
“I am a very keen supporter of hospices which carry out vital work and offer a lifeline to those who need help with end of life care.
“The vast majority of work undertaken by them is done on a charitable basis and I would urge anyone interested in taking the plunge this Sunday to sign up for the event.”

St Kentigern Hospice, based in St Asaph, provides specialist palliative care services completely free of charge for adults across North East Wales.
In 2023, the hospice’s annual running costs exceeded £4.2 million — that’s more than £8,000 every day with 24% of this funded by the local government.
Fundraising events like The Big Dip and the sponsorship raised are essential in enabling the hospice to continue providing not only care in its 12-bed inpatient ward but also services such as bereavement support, outpatient clinics, occupational therapy, complementary therapies, and art and music therapy.
