NORTH WALES FIRE SERVICE has confirmed that a dog has died and two people have been taken to hospital after a gas explosion on a pleasure boat.
Firefighters were called to the scene in Chirk marina, Wrexham county, at 18:10 HRS on Saturday (Dec 14).
The two people escaped the vessel – which sank – with minor injuries but the flames spread to a 40ft long canal boat.
A drifting boat was stopped from hitting others after its mooring ropes broke after catching fire.
No pollutants or debris entered the main canal it was confirmed.
