Broughton calls on local charities for Christmas appeal

BROUGHTON Shopping Park is inviting residents to nominate deserving local charities to benefit from its annual Christmas Toys and Tins Appeal.

Launched this week, the appeal encourages visitors to donate new, unwrapped toys to ensure as many children as possible wake up to a gift on Christmas morning.

Residents can also donate non-perishable or tinned food items, which will be distributed to older, more vulnerable community members in a bid to ensure everyone has enough to eat over the festive period.

This year, the shopping park is opening up nominations, allowing locals to suggest additional charities across Cheshire and North Wales which could benefit from the appeal.

To nominate a deserving local cause, please email [email protected] with details for their consideration.

Alan Pruden-Barker, centre manager at Broughton, commented: “We were blown away by the generosity of our visitors during the festive season last year, with hundreds of toys and food cupboard essentials donated to help those most in need.

“Our local community means so much to us, so we’re proud to bring back the appeal this year to continue offering a helping hand to those who need it most.

“I have no doubt our customers will rally around to support, as they always do, and it’s brilliant to be able to extend the offer of support to more deserving organisations.”

Broughton has partnered with Chester’s Dee Radio to launch the appeal following the success of last year’s initiative, which saw hundreds of toys donated by visitors to the shopping park.

A collection box is available in the foyer outside Costa Coffee at Broughton until 22nd December for customers to drop off donations.
