PLANS to transform a former MOT centre in Connah’s Quay into an Indian restaurant have been lodged with Flintshire County Council.

The plans for the 185.8 square-metre unit at Quay Shopping Centre on Ffordd Llanarth include a 17-table restaurant with full kitchen and facilities and a lounge/reception area for diners who arrive early.

The site was until 2022 the home of Connah’s Quay MOT and Auto Centre, but it has been vacant for more than two years.

Planning consultants D2 Planning are leading the application for permission and a change-of-use for an as-yet unnamed restauranteur.

The site is home to Morrisons.

It’s won’t be the first time an eat-in Indian restaurant has been based at the Ffordd Llanarth shopping precinct however.

Last summer the popular Quay Fine Dining closed down. The restaurant, which had a 4.5 rating on Tripadvisor, reopened after experiencing a fire but  business never recovered.
