AN ARRAY of solar panels on a Mold Business Park could save tenants more than a third of their energy costs if approved.
Plans have been submitted to Flintshire County Council for 120 ground based solar panels to be installed on grass verges at the rear of Media Point on Wrexham Road.
Coupled with a further 240 solar panels which the site owners plan to fit to the roof of the main building, the array is expected to generate 119.61 MegaWatt hours (MWh) of electricity per year.
That is 39% of the site’s current energy demand.
There are a number of businesses and services with premises on the site including Mold Dialysis Unit – offering treatment for patients whose kidneys are not functioning properly – and Digital Health and Care Wales, which is responsible for NHS Wales’ online and digital services.
Site owner Mojo 2 stated in its application it believes by reducing the cost of business energy bills, the scheme will help tenants on-site to invest in more employment opportunities locally.
“There are positive economic benefits,” it wrote. “With the reduction in the cost of energy, business use at this location is more viable and can create more opportunities for the local workforce and occupants of the business park.”
The consultation closes on March 19.
