Sam Rowlands MS comments on the impact of Storm Darragh in North Wales

SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, has expressed his concern at the havoc caused by Storm Darragh over the weekend.

Mr Rowlands was commenting after reports of widespread flooding in parts of Wrexham and Flintshire and damage to buildings in North East Wales.

He said: “My heart goes out to anyone who has been impacted by Storm Darragh which has caused widespread disruption across the region.

“Many areas have again been flooded because of the heavy rain and strong winds which wreaked havoc all over North Wales. At one time even part of the A55 at Holywell had to be closed because of flooding and many people were without power for several hours.

“I feel very sad for all those who have once again borne the brunt of this fearsome storm and for those who got caught up in this extremely bad weather.

“My thanks also go to everybody who have been out and about helping residents and businesses during this difficult time.”

Storm Darragh which hit North Wales in the early hours of Saturday morning brought heavy rain and strong winds leaving a trail of damage and travel chaos.

Flying debris and falling trees caused problems all over the area with damage to buildings and homes with roofs blown off and power lines brought down

There was also road closures and delays and cancellations to bus, train, ferry services and flights.

In Flintshire and Wrexham it caused widespread disruption with flooding, road closures, and power outages affecting the county.
