Magellan Aerospace ‘Employee Appreciation Day’ raises money for five local charities

MAGELLAN AEROSPACE Employee Appreciation Day has raised an incredible £2,500 for five local charities.

The event, which celebrated all Magellan Aerospace employees, saw a marquee being set up, and the event featured an array of delicious food, from mini canapés to gourmet burgers, courtesy of the Gourmet Monster Burger van and wood-fired pizzas.

Wales Air Ambulance was delighted to receive £500 from the fundraising event, the other charities who also benefited were; Wrexham Foodbank, Shelter Cymru, Nightingale Hospice and local cancer charity, NWCR (North West Cancer Research).

The Wales Air Ambulance needs to raise £11.2 million every year to keep its helicopters in the air and its rapid response vehicles on the road.

Holly Savage, from Magellan Aerospace said: “Our employees are paramount to our success at Magellan and employee appreciation days are a great way to dedicate time and events within the organisation to specifically recognise and celebrate the hard work and contributions of employees. These days offer a valuable opportunity for employers to express gratitude, boost morale, and reinforce a positive workplace culture.

“Ultimately, employee appreciation days serve as a reminder that all team member’s efforts are valued and essential to the organisation’s success. Here at Magellan Aerospace, we believe that our employees are our greatest resource in working towards a successful future hence why we held such a great event for our employees.

“In addition to celebrating our employees, the day also provided a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community. We proudly raised £2,500 for local charities. We raised this amount of money by having a tombola, and a raffle that included many amazing prizes including a lazy spa, TV & PlayStation to just name a few.

“We then had the opportunity to visit some of these charities and they visited us to learn more about how we can help them in the future.”

Wales Air Ambulance is consultant-led, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient and, if required, transferring them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury. For the patient, this can mean hours saved when compared to standard care and is proven to greatly improve survival and early recovery.

This advanced critical care includes the ability to administer anaesthesia, deliver blood transfusions and conduct minor operations, all at the scene of an incident.

The appreciation day, held at Llay, Wrexham, was a resounding success, filled with gratitude, camaraderie, and celebration.

Holly added: “The positive feedback and smiles all around were testaments to the day’s success, and it was a great chance to recement our people first values, dedicating time to thank our employees for their valuable contributions to our success and setting a high bar for the future events.”

North Wales Regional Fundraising Manager for the Wales Air Ambulance, Deb Sima, said: “Magellan Aerospace Employee Appreciation Day was not only a wonderful way to show their employees how valued they are but five local charities each received £500 from their fundraising. They raised a wonderful £2,500 and we were delighted that our all-Wales Charity was chosen to benefit from their fundraising.

“Thank you to everyone who took part in organising a wonderful event, the money you’ve raised will help us to continue to be there for the people of Wales when they us most.”

Magellan Aerospace would like to give a special mention to Joseph Williams (Fitting and Assembly Apprentice), Matthew MacLaren (Maintenance Electrician Apprentice) and Paul Langford (Maintenance) for constructing a sweet cart from scratch. The sweet cart held many delicious sweets that employees enjoyed throughout the event.

They also appreciate the fact that Project Engineer Mark Atkins, who has a passion for photography, captured the day and took some wonderful images.
