Maximus celebrates impact of employment support in Wrexham

MAXIMUS were delighted to welcome Mark Isherwood, Member of the Senedd for North Wales and Chair of the Cross-Party Group on Disability, to a special event in Wrexham celebrating the positive impact of specialist employment services.

As a leading provider of employment and disability support services, Maximus has been supporting Wales residents for more than 75 years, helping them to overcome significant barriers to employment and find sustainable work.

During the event, attendees heard from participants, community partners and employers such as Cera Care and Rebuild for Hope to learn more about the success of our programmes in supporting individuals with disabilities and health conditions to build long-term and meaningful careers.

For the last seven years, Maximus has been providing up to 21 months of intensive, specialised employment support to those with a health condition or disability through the Work and Health Programme (WHP). Meanwhile since its launch in September 2023, Work and
Health Programme Pioneer (WHPP) has been helping those with additional barriers, such as people with disabilities, veterans, carers or refugees. So far, more than 900 Wrexham residents have been supported on their journey into work.

Mark Isherwood, Member of the Senedd for North Wales, said: “It was a pleasure to present the Awards and speak at last Friday’s Work and Health Programme Celebration Event in Wrexham. This employment support programme, launched by the previous UK Government
and delivered by Maximus, has been instrumental in helping disabled people, individuals with health conditions and other groups in the area to find and sustain employment. I thank all those involved in the programme for their invaluable work, and once again congratulate all the participants, staff and employers who received an Award at Friday’s event.”

Fundamental to the delivery of the service is the innovative Community Partnership Network, which brings together the best of private, public and voluntary sector organisations to collaborate, innovate and deliver a range of integrated services, such as, skills training, health and social care services, debt advice and mental health support.

As a Disability Confident Leader, promoting disability confidence remains at the heart of our approach. By developing strong relationships with hundreds of local and national employers, we’re empowering employers to build accessible and inclusive workplaces for our participants, ensuring every individual has the opportunity to thrive.

Claire Davies, Regional Contracts Director at Maximus, said: “Maximus is proud to support people with multiple barriers across North & Mid Wales find sustainable employment and it was wonderful to welcome Mark Isherwood to celebrate the success of our programmes.
Looking ahead, we are excited to continue building on this success, expanding our support to even more individuals in the area. Through initiatives like the Work and Health Programme (WHP) and Work and Health Programme Pioneer (WHPP), we are able to not only helping
individuals overcome barriers to employment but also contributing to the local economy by empowering people to build fulfilling, long-term careers.”
