New floodlight scheme approved for Racecourse

THE planning application to replace the current floodlights at the Racecourse Ground has been accepted, according to Wrexham FC.

The illustration (further down below) depicts how the new floodlighting system compares to the current towers.

According to the club, the new floodlight system will be able to give a steady 1500 lux to satisfy UEFA’s category four stadium criteria.

However, it can also be set to give any level between the National League’s standard of 350 lux and any level in between.

The Club has tendered the project and are awaiting the final costs to be confirmed.

No start date is as yet confirmed, although it is envisaged that the new towers will be in place before the end of the season.
