Striker Paul Mullin dreams of Premier League and Wales cap

PAUL MULLIN, the sensational striker who propelled Wrexham to promotion in the National League, has voiced his unwavering ambition to reach the Premier League and earn a call-up to represent Wales. Mullin’s two crucial goals in Wrexham’s recent 3-1 comeback victory against Boreham Wood secured the team’s National League title, capping off a remarkable season for the 28-year-old.

With a tally of 46 goals in all competitions, Mullin’s outstanding performance has put him in the spotlight and fueled hopes for his future prospects. Having successfully guided Wrexham back to the Football League after a 15-year absence, the determined forward now sets his sights on the highest echelons of English football.

In an interview with The Times, Mullin revealed his desire to don the Welsh national team jersey, emphasizing the strong connection he feels with Wales. “I’d love to play for Wales. Looking at the Wales team, their togetherness, that reflects me. The people I have got to know in Wales have treated me well and made me one of them,” he expressed.

While acknowledging the challenges, Mullin remains resolute in his aspirations. “I want to play at the highest level. I will never give up hope of playing in the Premier League until I am retired,” he affirmed.

Mullin’s eligibility for Wales is derived from his Newport ancestry, and he is eager to seize the opportunity to represent the country on the international stage. Wales is scheduled to face Gibraltar in an autumn friendly, with the possibility of the match being held at the Racecourse, the home ground of Wrexham.

Before joining Wrexham, Mullin showcased his scoring prowess during his tenure at Cambridge United, where he notched an impressive 32 goals in 46 appearances, aiding the club’s promotion to League One in 2021. His exceptional performance earned him the coveted Golden Boot and secured his name in the League Two record books as the top goalscorer.

Mullin’s talents have garnered praise from Wrexham’s owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who hailed him as “one of the greatest football players in the world.” While Mullin acknowledges the exaggerated sentiment, he appreciates the support from the high-profile duo. “I genuinely think in his own head he actually means that at that moment. He and Rob say, ‘You do not understand how famous you are in America — only outside of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and some Premier League players,'” Mullin shared.

Despite the acclaim, Mullin remains grounded and unaffected by his newfound fame. He humbly recounts that only a few people recognize him when he walks into a shop. Mullin, who has never been to America, expects to experience a culture shock when he visits in the coming months. “I don’t see myself as famous or recognizable, and nothing has changed me. I literally do exactly the same, like walking into McDonald’s,” he stated.

As Paul Mullin’s star continues to rise, his aspirations of playing in the Premier League and representing Wales burn brightly. With his exceptional goal-scoring record and dedication to his craft, Mullin is poised to make a lasting impact on the footballing world, driven by the unwavering support of his club, his fans, and his own unwavering ambition.
