Bridgend bag seven tries in win over Llanelli

BRIDGEND scored seven tries on Friday night (Feb 24) as they beat Llanelli 45-17 in the Indigo Premiership.

Jordan Collier got the scoring underway after five minutes as he scored the first try of the game and Luke Price then added the extras.

Gareth Harvey went over for the home side’s second try of the game and Price added the extras for a 14-0 lead with 13 minutes gone.

They thought they had another one soon after but Stuart Floyd Ellis’ try was ruled out for a knock on.

However, they soon had their third try as Collier touched down for his second of the game and Price added the convesion for a 21-0 lead.

Llanelli did not give up and Elli Evans went over for a try for the visitors but the conversion was missed.

The home side thought they had another shortly before the break but Edd Howley was adjudged to have knocked the ball on and the score stayed at 21-5.

Four minutes into the second half, Bridgend had their bonus point try as Harvey went over for his second but Price’s conversion went just wide.

Six minutes later Price intercepted the ball and ran on to score the Ravens’ fifth try and he then added the extras to make the score 33-5.

Reuben Tucker was next to go over and Price added the extras to take their score on to 40.

The visitors then enjoyed a good spell and it finished with Joe Hutchings touching down. Josh Phillips could not add the conversion.

With just over ten minutes to go Bridgend were over again as a good team move was finished off by Conor Tantum. Price’s conversion attempt went wide.

Llanelli finished strong and got their third try shortly before the end. Louis Rees went over and Phillips added the extras.

There was no time for any more action and the Ravens could celebrate a fifth win of the season.

On Saturday, March 4, Bridgend host RGC while Llanelli are at home against Pontypridd.
