Mini roundabout Calls for traffic lights close to Markham Primary School

THE MAEKHAM mini-roundabout, a “hazardous” tiny roundabout, needs traffic lights, according to the locals.

More than 200 people signed a petition to Caerphilly County Borough Council against the four-junction mini roundabout close to Markham Primary School.

In June of this year, Paul Morgan and his wife Hilary were hurt in a collision on the roundabout. After a delivery driver struck the couple’s vehicle, it was declared totaled.

Hilary, 72, said: “To me, the roundabout is lethal. It’s waiting for a fatality. We’re not the first accident and we’re not going to be the last.”

The couple have lived in Markham all their life. Paul, 73, said: “I have always been wary of it, and we have been going on about its dangers for the past three or four years.”

Unfamiliar drivers, according to Paul, “fly over” the roundabout without looking to see if vehicles are approaching from the right and left.
