A 22-year-old motorcyclist has died following a collision on a busy residential street in Caerphilly.
The fatal incident occurred on Hoel Aneurin, Penyrheol, at around 1.30pm on 28 February. Gwent Police confirmed that the motorbike rider collided with a stationary campervan and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Emergency services, including officers from Gwent Police, the Welsh Ambulance Service, and the Welsh Air Ambulance, attended the incident. Paramedics confirmed the young man’s death, and his next of kin have been informed. Specialist officers are currently supporting the family.
Following the crash, a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
Gwent Police are appealing for witnesses and are particularly keen to speak with the driver of a red Vauxhall Adam, who they believe may have vital information regarding the collision.
A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: “We’re appealing for witnesses after receiving a report of a road traffic collision on Hoel Aneurin, Penyrheol, at around 1.20pm on Friday 28 February. Officers attended, alongside personnel from the Welsh Ambulance Service and Welsh Air Ambulance.
“The collision involved a motorbike and a stationary campervan. Paramedics confirmed that the driver of the motorbike, a 22-year-old man, had sadly died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.
“A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation.
“We’re asking for anyone with information, or dashcam footage/CCTV from the area at the time of the collision, to contact us.
“We are specifically asking the occupants of the red Vauxhall Adam pictured to contact us, as we believe they were in the area at the time and may have important information regarding this collision.
