Murder enquiry launched in Abertridwr

GWENT POLICE are investigating following the death of a 27-year-old man on Sunday 2 April.

Police were called to an address in Cefn Ilan Road, Abertridwr, at around 9.45am on Sunday, April 2 after a man was found unresponsive inside a property.

Officers attended along with paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service who confirmed that a 27-year-old man had died.

His next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by specialist officers.

A murder investigation has been launched and a 28-year-old man from the Caerphilly area has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

He remains in police custody at this time.

Detective Superintendent Nicholas Wilkie said: “Officers will be making further enquiries at this time and will remain at the scene as the investigation progresses.

“It is possible that you may see ongoing police activity in Caerphilly as part of this work as we have two scenes guards established – one in Abertriwdr and another in Caerphilly town centre – so please do not be alarmed.

“If you have concerns or information then please do stop and talk with us.”

We’re asking anyone who was in White Street, near the library, who saw an altercation between two men between 8pm and 10pm on Saturday 1 April, or anyone with any information which could assist the investigation, to call 101 quoting reference 2300105165 or send us a direct message on social media.
