A FIVE-BEDROOM house in Trethomas could be converted into a HMO for nine people, according to plans submitted to Caerphilly County Borough Council.

The applicant, Viram Goraniya of Three Plus Ltd, is seeking planning permission for the change of use of White O’Morn, a large property on Navigation Street.

In his application, Mr Goraniya states the house has been vacant for more than two years.

HMOs (houses in multiple occupation) are typically properties in which single, unrelated adults have their own bedrooms but share other communal facilities such as kitchens, bathrooms and living rooms.

In this case, Mr Goraniya has proposed converting a small reception room on the ground floor into a bedroom, and also dividing another large reception space to create an additional bedroom.

Upstairs, the plans show two more existing bedrooms would be split to create extra accommodation.

Other parts of the property would remain largely the same as the current layout, plans lodged with the council show.

The application is currently out for consultation, and can be viewed on the Caerphilly County Borough Council website under reference 25/0001/COU.
