A REFRIGERATION firm has won planning permission for its new base in Penallta Industrial Estate.
The partially retrospective planning application was filed by CB Refrigeration Ltd, which has moved from Bedwas to its new home.
The premises in Penallta Industrial Estate was formerly a storage unit and donation point for the children’s charity Snap Cymru.
In a statement on behalf of his clients, planning agent Sean Hannaby, of Hannaby Planning Solutions Ltd, said his clients had “considerably expanded in the last eight years to the point where they are outgrowing their existing accommodation in the Bedwas House Industrial Estate”.
He added that the company, which supplies, installs and maintains air conditioning and refrigeration systems nationwide, “wishes to remain in the local area where the majority of the workforce is based”.
It will continue to provide a reported 34 jobs at the new site.
The plans for the new site went out for a recent public consultation but did not draw any objections from neighbours.
In their assessment of the proposals, Caerphilly County Borough Council planning officers said the development “would add to the mix of uses within the area” and was located in an area with road and public transport links.
According to planning documents, work on the new site began in June.
The council’s planners said the proposed works were “considered to be acceptable within an industrial estate”, and the project “does not result in an unacceptable impact on neighbouring amenity, or on highway safety”.
They granted planning permission, subject to several conditions.
