A CAR struck two pedestrians in Caerphilly town centre on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a significant emergency services response.
The incident occurred around 3:00pm at the junction of Market Street and North View Terrace. Gwent Police and paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service attended the scene, alongside the Welsh Air Ambulance, which landed near Caerphilly Castle.
Eyewitnesses reported a heavy police presence and road closures affecting Market Street and Castle Street well into Tuesday night. Video footage showed at least six police vehicles, as well as multiple ambulances, attending the scene.
A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: “We received a report of a road traffic collision at the junction of Market Street and North View Terrace, Caerphilly, at around 3:00pm on Tuesday. Officers and paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service and Welsh Air Ambulance attended. The collision involved a car and two pedestrians. The incident is ongoing.”
The Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed that two people were taken to hospital following the collision. The condition of those involved has not yet been disclosed.
Emergency services remained at the scene late into the evening as investigations continued.
