Bellway backs Pentyrch rugby club for second year running

A rugby club in Pentyrch has been given a financial boost to kickstart its season for a second year from local housebuilder Bellway.

Bellway Wales, which is building new homes at Coed Derw in nearby Llantwit Fardre, has donated £250 to Pentyrch RFC to buy match kits for its Under-18s team. The donation follows Bellway giving the club £250 in September last year.

The club, which plays its home matches at Parc-y-Dwrlyn, off Penuel Road in Pentyrch, has teams from Under-7s all the way up to two full adult teams.

Phil Smith, Manager of Pentyrch RFC Under-18s, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Bellway for their time and effort in supporting our club again for a second year, and for helping us to reduce the cost of participation for our players.

“I have been involved with the team for over three years now and Bellway is the only company to have supported us for two years running, so we are delighted to be extending our relationship with them again this year.

“Support like this from Bellway goes a long way to helping to keep our playing costs down for our members and will help the team really look the part this season. On behalf of Pentyrch RFC, I would like to say a huge thank you to Bellway, and I hope that we can continue our relationship well into the future.”

Daniel Shone, Head of Sales for Bellway Wales, said: “We are very pleased to be supporting Phil and his team for a second consecutive year, as part of our support to the local community near Coed Derw.

“The club plays an important role in the heart of the village as a social hub, offering the chance for people of all ages to play rugby, but also to come and enjoy themselves in the clubhouse in a welcoming environment.

“We would like to wish Phil and all of those at Pentyrch RFC all the very best for this season, and we hope that this donation will give the team a boost, both on and off the pitch.”
