ON TUESDAY (December 10), several lucky Cardiff locals received a visit from a fleet of (possibly) the world’s smallest supermarket delivery vans, handing out free Christmas delights on behalf of Asda.
Piloted by the much-loved gnomes of its Christmas advert, Asda’s tiny vans have delivered a range of festive goodies to Cardiff homes as they make their way across the UK.
The remote-controlled dinky delivery vans are fully functioning replicas of regular supermarket home delivery vans – just ten times smaller. Measuring only 70cm long and 30cm high, they’re the perfect size for a gnome and have just enough room in the back for a miniature shop to help get Cardiff residents local to the Pentwyn store in the Christmas spirit.
In Asda’s hit Christmas campaign (which has now racked up over 25M views on social media alone) the ‘gnomies’ come to the rescue and help snowed-in Asda colleagues get everything ready for Christmas. Now, the same stars – Max, Gnorma, Gnibbles, Gnarla and Gnicky – are lending a helping hand once again, this time from behind the wheels of tiny supermarket delivery vans.
The five tiny delivery vans are driving to hundreds of households across the nation to deliver totally free compact Christmas shops from Asda’s festive food offering.
Each tiny shop in the back of the vans will include Asda’s award-winning Exceptional mince pies (as seen in the advert) alongside a selection of other small, delicious festive treats. Residents receiving a Gnome Delivery simply need to open the tiny van and take their delightful free delivery inside.
The fleet of five Gnome Delivery vans will be turning heads and raising smiles as they zip up and down the pavements in Manchester today, Leeds on the December 12 and Glasgow on the December 13.
David Hills, chief customer officer at Asda, said: “We’ve been blown away by the love customers have for our gnomes and our pint-sized Gnome Delivery vans are a really fun way for us to keep spreading that joy this Christmas.
“Our Christmas range is all about helping our customers to have their best Christmas ever with our vast array of incredible festive products all at unbeatable Asda prices, and additional touches like these little vans delivering free festive treats are the cherry on top.”
Proving just as popular as the TV advert are the gnomes themselves, which are now available to buy in Asda stores and online. The latest drop of tiny superstars has seen searches for ‘gnomes’ on Asda’s site rocket by 5,425%, and fans have rushed in droves to purchase their favourites, with Max and Gnarla already selling out online.
But fear not, the full gang are still available in-stores whilst stocks last, so gnome newbies and collectors alike will need to get in there quick. Max, Gnarla, Gnibbles, Gnorma and Gnicky are available for £7 in-store and online now. Visit George.com to find out more.
