Inquest hears teenager was killed by car on zebra crossing

A 15-year-old girl lost her life when she was struck by a car while crossing the road on her way home from a walk, an inquest has heard.

Keely Morgan was hit by a car on Heol Trelai in Caerau, Cardiff on May 1 at approximately 9.30pm. She sadly died at the scene.

The teenager spent Bank Holiday Monday at the beach in Barry with her family before going for a walk after they got home.

Following the incident, a post-mortem examination conducted on Keely’s body revealed that she had suffered from “multiple blunt force injuries,” confirming the tragic cause of her death.

During the inquest, Coroner Graeme Hughes expressed his suspicion that Keely’s death was “unnatural or violent.”

Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, the hearing was adjourned to allow the police to carry out a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Another hearing has been scheduled in four months to further explore the details of the incident.
