A major route in and out of Cardiff has been closed following what police have described as a “serious collision.” The incident occurred on Penarth Road in the Leckwith area, prompting a significant emergency service response.
The road is currently blocked in both directions, with the closure extending from the old Porsche garage to the Hadfield Road junction. South Wales Police issued a statement shortly before 2:30pm on Tuesday, confirming that the road is likely to remain closed for an extended period.
Motorists have been advised to seek alternative routes, as Penarth Road serves as a key access point for the A4232 from Cardiff city centre. Despite the disruption, eyewitnesses and drivers reported that traffic in the surrounding areas was “coping well” as of 3:30pm.
This is a developing situation, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
