A MAN has been left with serious injuries following an assault at a pub in St Mellons on Friday evening.
South Wales Police responded to a call of an assault which took place at the Melrose Inn, St Mellons at 11.20pm on Friday, December 16.
Two men have been arrested and are in police custody.
One man has been taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers were called shortly before 11.20pm last night, Friday 16 December, to reports of an assault on a man at the Melrose Inn, StMellons.”
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Miles said: “A 29-year-old man was taken to hospital with very serious injuries.
“Two men, aged 32 and 33, have been arrested and are in police custody.
“Anybody who may have witnessed the incident, or has information about it is urged to contact us and quote reference 2200421348.”
The pub remained closed whilst it assisted officers with their investigation.
A spokesperson for the Melrose Inn said: “Due to an incident that happened in our pub on the 16th of December we will remain closed to the public while we continue to support the police with their investigation.
“We send our thoughts to the person who is currently in hospital and we will be offering support to our team members.”
