Manic Street Preachers and Suede headline Cardiff Castle

MANIC Street Preachers and Suede kicked off the first of two sold out nights in the Welsh capital last night (FRI).

The indie music legends played to a capacity crowd at TK Maxx presents Depot Live at Cardiff Castle marking a triumphant return for the Manic Street Preachers after they last headlined the iconic venue in 2019 as part of their 20th anniversary tour celebrating the release of their 1998 number one album, This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours..

One of the most influential rock bands to have come out of Wales, the Manics headlined the night beginning their set with roaring crowd pleaser You Luv Us. They then performed hit after hit including Motorcycle Emptiness, Everything Must Go, You Stole the Sun From My Heart, Elvis Impersonator: Blackpool Pier and A Design For Life before ending the night with number 1 hit If You Tolerate This Then Your Children Will Be Next.

Taking to the stage ahead of Manics was a fully energised set from Suede. Singer Brett Anderson was on form from the first note belting out hits including Trash, Animal Nitrate, Filmstar, and Metal Mickey. A rendition of first single The Drowners saw Anderson jump into the crowd. They ended their set with a crowd pleasing Beautiful Ones.

The pair return to Cardiff Castle Saturday for another sold-out show. On Sunday they will be followed by JLS, Rick Astley, IDLES, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Madness, Tom Grennan and Anne-Marie.
