RUNNERS looking to take part in next year’s Cardiff Half Marathon are being told to sprint to secure their spot with the race due to sell out imminently.
Registration for the 2025 Cardiff Half Marathon opened earlier yesterday (Wednesday 9 October) with the first two waves of tickets selling out within an hour.
The race, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday 5 October 2025, is seeing unprecedented demand.
This morning all 5,000 early bird entries, which were offered to those who had pre-registered, were snapped up by keen runners in a matter of minutes. The second wave of tickets also went soon after.
General entry tickets into the race are still available and the race is now on for runners to secure their space.
Matt Newman, Chief Executive of Cardiff Half’s race organiser, Run 4 Wales, said: “The Cardiff Half Marathon continues to grow each year. This year saw a record number of runners take part in the event and we’re expecting an even higher demand for 2025.
“This year a record 23,000 people pre-registered to gain priority access to our early launch sale. With the first two ticket releases sold out in just over an hour, I’d urge runners who want to take part next year to sign up now to avoid disappointment, as we’re expecting the race to sell out in a matter of days.”
With more runners than ever taking part in the SuperHalfs Series of races in Lisbon, Prague, Berlin, Copenhagen, Cardiff and Valencia, demand to take part is increasing with runners from all overing the world coming to Cardiff as part of their SuperHalfs journey.
General entry into the race costs £55.
For those who are looking to run for a good cause, runners can secure their spot to run for the event’s lead charity, NSPCC, for £10 when pledging to raise £300.
For those looking for an extra challenge they can take on the Welsh Distance Double, taking part in both the ABP Newport Marathon on 13 April and Cardiff Half on 5 October for just £84.
