IN 2021, Cardiff’s Bute Park showcased it’s incredible light trail – including huge flowers, a fairy-light tree-lined avenue and a variety of light shows guaranteed to impress visitors over the festive season.
Christmas in Bute Park is expected to start up again in November. Event organisers believe it’s worth a visit thanks to the new and enhanced light shows.
Bute Park will be packed with light shows, street food, and other cosy attractions beginning Thursday, November 24, and lasting until Christmas.
This year, visitors may expect to see a ‘light canyon,’ an iridescent light orb experience provided by Prismatic, and a 20-metre long sensory walkway developed by Jessica Lloyd-Jones, a Welsh visual artist.
Jessica is based in Llangollen and is interested in the interaction of materials and light through sculpture and installation. Spectral Cloud will combine light with hundreds of translucent ribbons.
Jessica said: “I wanted to make something spectacular and engaging so we are creating a 20m-long sensory walkway in which the artwork hangs overhead. I hope visitors will respond to the work with delight, curiosity, and wonder.”
Organisers have been collaborating with event specialists around the country to ensure that more than 70% of the attractions on offer are completely new for visitors this year, as well as working on specially-composed pieces of music to complement the trail.
This year, there will be an even broader selection of food and beverage companies, as well as a newly expanded space for toasting marshmallows.
Greek Meating Point, Yorkshire PuddingWraps, Hot Dogs Gourmet Griddle, Indian Keralan Karavan, Brownies Chock Shop, Churros Hermanos and a large range of other suppliers will be among the new food selection.
