APPROVAL has been granted by the local council for the construction of a new industrial unit in the Neath Port Talbot area.
It will see developers given the green light to build a facility with six industrial workshops along with highways arrangements, landscaping, and associated works on Nant-Y-Cafn Business Park in Seven Sisters.
The site, which is located in the settlement of Nant-Y-Cafn off Dulais Road, will join with another which already contains a GP surgery and pharmacy with residential houses to the west.
The decision was made by officers from the local authority and will be brought before members at a planning committee on January 28 as part of a series of delegated decisions made between December 9 and January 20.
The plans were first submitted by Asbri Planning on behalf of the applicant, Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, in July 2024.
While the plans do not specify who might use the units once completed the application says they are for a class B2 for general industrial use.
They read: “The proposed workshops are functional in design and modest in appearance. The unit is a single storey in height with external walls of brickwork and cladding. The unit frontage will benefit from six roller shutter doors providing access to each workshop, alongside entrance doorways.
“The proposals utilise a pitched roof with integrated translucent roof light windows to provide natural light. Internally each unit is provided with separated office space, WC, and break room.”
