A PLANNING consultation has been launched ahead of proposals to build a new housing estate on land close to the M4 Motorway in the Neath Port Talbot area.
It comes as part of an outline application from consultants at Asbri Planning on behalf of the Hale Group and Pobl Group for a new residential development on a site north of Crymlyn Parc, Skewen.
The plans could eventually see 153 houses created in an area 4.1 kilometres west of Neath town centre if given the go-ahead by the local council’s planning authority over the coming months.
If approved, early plans say the development would contain a mixture of houses including both market and affordable properties, consisting of 38 one-bedroom apartments, 66 two-bedroom houses, 45 three-bedroom houses and 4 four-bedroom houses.
They add that the once completed the apartment blocks will be up to 3 storeys in height with other plans in place to create new access roads, drainage and landscaping in the area.
A report which describes the new site reads: “The architectural language is at once contemporary and familiar and, married with robust, high-quality materials, is designed to deliver safe, attractive and sustainable new neighbourhoods that will not only complement the place-making aspirations of the layout, but which will create a diverse, affordable yet aspirational places in which to live.”
Anyone wanting to make representations on these outline plans will now be able do so through Asbri planning until December 6, 2024.
