Neath Port Talbot man sentenced to 40 months for drug offences

A NEATH PORT TALBOT man was sentenced at Swansea Crown Court today for his involvement in the supply of class A drugs, including cocaine and MDMA, as well as for possessing criminal property and cannabis.

Ryan Abraham, 24, of Dyffryn Road, Alltwen, Pontardawe, received a total of 40 months in prison. This sentence includes concurrent terms for possession of criminal property, class B cannabis, and class A cocaine. The most substantial sentence was for his role in supplying cocaine and MDMA, which led to the 40-month term.

On Tuesday (Oct 10), police searched Abraham’s home and recovered several items, including phones, stolen laptops, SIM cards, £1,100 in cash, and scales. The devices and SIM cards indicated that Abraham had supplied narcotics such as cocaine, cannabis, and MDMA, leading to his arrest.

Abraham has a history of multiple convictions for drug-related offences dating back to 2021. In November 2022, he was arrested for possessing cannabis while still on licence until January 2026. His Honour Mr Recorder D. Payne noted, “This record of relevant previous offences must be taken into account.”

The defence, led by Mr Griffiths, presented Abraham’s good character, highlighting his separation from his child as a motivating factor for self-improvement during his time in custody. Abraham also entered a guilty plea at Swansea Magistrates Court.

Despite these statements, Mr Recorder D. Payne felt that Abraham’s past convictions significantly overshadowed his efforts to reform. He stated, “These are grossly overshadowed by your previous convictions.”

Abraham will serve half of his sentence in prison, with the remainder on licence. He is also required to pay a mandatory surcharge of £228 three months after his release. The court ordered the destruction of the drugs, paraphernalia, and the £1,100 cash found in his home.
