Plans submitted to build new industrial workshop units

PLANS to build four industrial workshop units in Neath Port Talbot have been submitted to the council.

The proposals put forward by Asbri Planning for land near Glyncorrwg industrial estate and a popular mountain bike centre could see the creation of the units with highways arrangements, parking, drainage, and landscaping if they are approved.

The site, which would be opposite an existing workshop unit, is currently used as a grassed amenity area on land close to a range of facilities in the village of Glyncorrwg, such as a convenience store, public house, health centre, and primary school.

It is allocated as an existing employment site in the area, with the application designed to provide a “modern and adaptable employment floorspace” near to the Port Talbot village.

A report within the planning application read: “The proposed workshops are functional in design and modest in appearance, corresponding with the existing Glyncorrwg workshops.

“The unit is a single storey in height with external walls of brickwork and cladding. The unit frontage will benefit from roller shutter doors providing access to each workshop, alongside entrance doorways.”

It adds: “The design of the proposal responds to the context of the site and the surrounding area. The visual appearance of the workshops is comparable to the existing industrial unit, albeit on a smaller scale.”

The plans for the new workshop units will now go before the council’s planning department for a decision in the coming months.
