PLANS for a 43 home development on land at on Heol Crwys in Cwmafan have been announced by housing association Tai Tarian.
The site which is currently home to 30 bungalows could be demolished to make way for new housing, after the properties were said to, “detract somewhat from the character and appearance of the area”.
The new site would contain 43 affordable homes, consisting of 22 one-bed apartments, 16 one-bed bungalows, and five two-bed bungalows, providing what is described by the plans as “significant visual enhancements in the area”.
There will also be room for 46 parking spaces incorporated within the plans through six separate off-street parking courtyards and pedestrian footpaths to accommodate the new dwellings.
Developers Tai Tarian say they will submit the application to Neath Port Talbot Council to replace houses on the existing site that are currently in varying states of disrepair. They have also carried out consultations with remaining leaseholders to temporarily relocate them whilst the development is ongoing.
The planning document reads: “It is the intention of the applicant to re-develop the site to create a modern site of contemporary standards, replacing the existing bungalows which are in varying states of disrepair.”
It added: “The proposal largely follows the existing layout of development and does have a similar form with more properties facing onto Heol Crwys.”
A pre-planning consultation is now being held by Asbri Planning, before a full planning application can be submitted to Neath Port Talbot’s planning committee for approval.
