TWO HMOs proposed for the Neath Port Talbot area have been given the green light to go ahead after requests were handed in for a change of use at the properties.
Both sites, one of which was formerly used as residential dwelling, will now become HMOs, otherwise known as a House in Multiple Occupation, following delegated approval from council officers.
The first property, located at Wind Street in Neath will see the first and second floors of a town centre property turned in to a three-bedroom House in Multiple Occupation, along with associated works including the installation of new Velux windows.
The change will take place on the street known for it’s proximity to Neath Leisure Centre as well as to the largely pedestrianised area of Neath town centre where a number of shops and cafes can be found.
The second approval is to change a former residential property based on Ty-draw Street in Port Talbot into a HMO that would be made up of four bedrooms and two bathrooms, and which would be occupied by up to four people.
The plans were presented to council members at a planning meeting held in January of 2025 and came after delegated approval from local council officers.
